God > Technology
Technology, what is it? Well, according to merriam-webster.com technology is, “The use of science in industry, engineering, etc., to invent useful things or to solve problems – a machine, piece of equipment, method, etc., that is created by technology.” In layman’s terms/as urban dictionary puts it, “1) The application of science, math, engineering, art, and other fields of knowledge to create tools and implementations deemed useful by a society. 2) Anything that has to do with computers. Often misused by stupid people and corporations that market to said stupid people.”

Now that we know what technology is, we can get to the heart of the matter… And that is, can God and technology coexist? This is a concept that for some reason many Christians struggle with. Some think that technology is evil while others don’t. I think what a lot of people get caught up on is modern technology, computers specifically. We actually forget about all the other forms of technology. If we go back to the very basic forms of technology and observe scripture, we see that it is God who is the author of technology and that technology is good. It is not an evil, but I will admit that it can be used for evil. It can be a means for those who are evil at heart to create more evil on a broader scale. Now, I am sure many would argue the differently, but I digress.
Above is a video of which Radius Church’s (a church based out of LA, California) pastor, Joseph Barkley, talks about Technology in our lives and how more and more of it is often less. He centers his whole message around seeking God first and having wisdom and understanding as to whether or not our interaction with technology is wise (Referencing the storey of King Solomon in 2 Corinthians 1). Joseph says that technology shapes our humanity. He paints a picture for us of how advanced we are in society that we have immediate access to all of the information we could ever fathom with in the world. If we want to do something, we just have to put our minds to it. With that, he poses the question of, “Do we ever fall into the illusion that we are omnipresent because we can do everything we want when we want?” Given that we need to seek God first and his wisdom in everything we do, “Your only limitation given unlimited possibilities is your hunger for wisdom.”
The above video is a part one of five other video’s. I only watched their fist part, but I plan to watch the rest on this topic, from Radius Church, and urge you to do the same.

So, what’s the verdict? Is technology good, bad, or do God and Technology mix? I’d say that technology on it’s own is very good and that it does not interfere with God or cause any concern for His existence. All truth and everything that is invented is from God. He created us to be creative and what we can do/create is only because he has given us the ability to do/create. We are made in His image and He is the ultimate creator creating the most complex of creations; humans themselves. God has been inventing and creating before the beginning of time. Look in the bible for yourself and you will see all of the technological advancements/commands He gave to his nation of Israel. Don’t let technology rule you, but rule technology and be wise with it as servants of our creator.
